What to do?

I obviously didn’t start this blog to get into the fundraising business, but what do you do when one of your closest friends in the world dedicates her marathon season to the love of your life?  You tell people about it, right?

Our dear friend Megan Douglas is in training for her first half-marathon, a fundraiser for leukemia and lymphoma.  “I have dedicated my season to Ginny.  On Saturday and Sunday while I was running and walking, I kept an image of her in my head and in my heart.  I know it sounds corny, but she really will help me finish this race.”

Doesn’t sound corny to me at all.  You can visit Megan’s page at http://pages.teamintraining.org/nc/nikewhlf13/megan

In fact, I’m sure I can speak here for the whole Douglas clan.  If you help Megan reach her pledge goal, her husband George will do the dishes for the entire week after the race.  Their daughter Heather will visit her folks twice to vacuum and clean up.  And their musician son Matt will dedicate a song on his next CD to Megan’s Marathoners in honor of all of you.  Right, Douglases?

Love, Mike

I am so proud of Megan and I am sure Ginny will give her the strength and ambition to fly like the wind.

This is so heartwarming to read and it proves to me once again that goodness, faith and love are always winners!

Godspeed for a cause that makes my heart race!

Mike, I’ve been reading your blog the last few days and I am so inspired by your equanimity and grace. I salute you.

Thank you and Megan for supporting Team in Training: it is a cause that is near and dear to my heart. I am getting ready to ride my ninth century (100-mile bike ride) for them, and it never gets old for me. I have met the most wonderful people through this organization that has done so much for blood cancer research and treatments.

You and Ginny will be very much on my mind as I push the pedals. Godspeed to you.
